Rivadeneira Signs Transparency Pledge
Promises open campaign and open government in Illinois
ELMHURST, IL – Rafael Rivadeneira, Republican candidate for House District 41, signed the Illinois Policy Institute’s Transparency Pledge to ensure state government is doing everything within its power to provide transparent government following his election to the House. Rafael formally announced his candidacy for the open seat in July.
Rafael is the first candidate in the GOP primary for House District 41 to sign such a pledge. After he signed the pledge, Rafael said politicians in Springfield must be transparent about how they spend tax dollars.
“We need to make it as easy as possible for the citizens of Illinois to see the budget process,” he said. “How we appropriate dollars, where every dollar goes, and how government manages its budget. Only after doing that, can Illinois use the taxpayers’ dollar more efficiently and use them in appropriate ways.
“Illinois leaders need to rebuild trust with the taxpayers after squandering hundreds of millions of dollars on pork barrel projects throughout the state. When we open up government spending to the public, politicians more carefully decide if spending money on certain projects is appropriate.
“My neighbors should no longer be in the dark about Springfield spending. We need to open up government and educate the public on our budget process.”
Rafael is president of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (RNHA) of Illinois and is the immediate past president and founder of the DuPage County chapter of the RNHA. An elected precinct committeeman in York Township, he is actively involved in the York Township Republican Committeemen’s Organization, the DuPage Young Republicans and the Illinois Republican Party.
